Flower Pincushion

I was in need of a pincushion and had seen a few cute flower pincushions.  I wanted something quick and easy to make, and something that would use some of the new buttons I'd just received in the mail.

I took some of my scrap fabric that I'd sent aside for projects, and cut out a circle that was 4 inches in diameter.

I stitched the right sides together. Stitch around the circle circumference of the circle, but make sure to keep an opening so that you can turn the fabric right side out.  I did a secondary zig zag stitch around the circle to keep it from splitting/fraying open.

Once you have the fabric stitched, turn it right side out and stuff with batting of your choice. And pick up a complimentary colour of embroidery thread to make your petals of the pincushion.  Make sure that the pincushion is stuffed nice and firm. you don't want it to be too soft. Stitch up the opening with a tiny slip stitch.

To form each petal, use your needle starting from the middle and pulling through the pin cushion.
I did the flower in quarters first and then sectioned the bloom into eighths.
