Mother & Daughter Apron

I found this really adorable pattern for a Mother/Daughter apron, and really vibrant and pretty fabric.

The apron is lined in a beautiful rich emerald green and the sash is a lemon yellow satin ribbon.  I chose to do the bottom corner apron, and i simply adore the child version!

Now I just need to find a child to model it!

New Fabric

Okay... so I may have a little bit of an addiction when it comes to fabric. My mother warned me, that I shouldn't buy too much, because it will just stock pile and then you'll forget what projects you have going.. but goodness. the fabrics are just TOO adorable out there!!!

I can't wait to get started with each of these. some of them will be regular day apron's and others will be more Christmas and Valentine oriented!! aren't they gorgeous?!

Ric Rac & Buttons

So I was shopping on Etsy the other day, and my products FINALLY arrived! yay!

you have NO idea how excited I was. The deal was AMAZING and the buttons were just so gosh darn cute! Check them out!

Ric Rac and buttons have to be one of the best embellishments for sewing.  Especially with kid garments, or adding a little retro flare! I am soooo looking forward to using these in future projects!

Pasta Carbonara

So, yesterday I made Pasta Carbonara with a friend. It was absolutely delicious! Pancetta, homemade pasta from Deluca's, all fresh ingredients. delicious!

Sadly today's version was not as delicious. It tasted great but I wish I had taken pictures yesterday. it was lovely and vibrant and so flavourful.

2 Eggs
3 ounces Parmesan Cheese
½ cup Loosely Packed Flat-Leaf Parsley Leaves
¼ tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper, plus more for garnish
¼ pound Pancetta Or Thin-Cut Bacon
2 Cloves Garlic
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
½ cup Dry White Wine
1 Tbsp Salt
1 pound Spaghetti Or Spaghettini

1. Put a large pot of water on to boil. Meanwhile, crack eggs into a large bowl and beat lightly. Finely shred or grate cheese, add ½ cup to eggs, and set the rest aside. Finely chop parsley and add to eggs. Add pepper and whisk to combine well. Set aside.

2. Cut pancetta or bacon into ¼-in.-thick slices, peel and chop garlic, and set both aside. Heat olive oil in a small frying pan over medium-high heat. Add pancetta and cook, stirring occasionally, until it starts to brown. Add garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add wine and cook until liquid is reduced by about half. Remove from heat and set aside.

3. When water boils, add salt and spaghetti. Boil pasta until it is tender to the bite. Drain well and immediately pour pasta into bowl with egg mixture. Toss to thoroughly coat pasta with egg mixture (the heat from the pasta will partly cook the egg and melt the cheese). Pour pancetta mixture on top of pasta and toss to combine thoroughly. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
lovely ingredients
again... the fresher the better!
Also i used bacon this evening... trust me, stop by the store and get pancetta and fresh parmesan, it makes a HUGE difference!

Sautee'd onions, garlic and bacon.
What i probably should have done was fried the bacon partially beforehand, drained some the grease and then aded the onions and garlic. I actually ended up having to strain the oil from the bacon afterwards.

see... too much oil... ick

the eggs and parmesan getting ready to be whisked up.

quickly mixing up the pasta with the bacon, onions, garlic and sauce.

finished product with fresh ground pepper and a little more parmesan

Overall still tasty. But i do prefer fresh ingredients!
